Paediatric First Aid (RQF)

Level 3
£100 per person, group discounts available
2 days

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework requires all early year’s providers to have at least one person who has a current and full paediatric first aid certificate on the premises and available at all times when children are present. Providers should also consider the number of children, staff and layout of the premises and increase their paediatric first aid provision accordingly to ensure that a paediatric first aider is available to respond to emergencies quickly.

Intended Audience

The QA Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) has been specifically designed to meet the criteria set by the Department for Education’s EYFS Framework and is ideal for:

  • Those who have gained a level 2 and/or level 3 childcare qualification and have entered into an early years setting and wish to be included in the staff to child ratios to comply with EYFS requirements.
  • Registered childminders and assistants who are required to hold a current and full paediatric first aid certificate in order to comply with the EYFS requirements.
  • Anyone who has a non-professional involvement with infants and children, such as parents and grandparents who want to learn key paediatric first aid skills.

Newly qualified entrants to an early years setting who have completed a level 2 and/or level 3 qualification on or after 30th June 2016, must also have either a full Paediatric First Aid or an Emergency Paediatric First Aid certificate within three months of starting work.

James Russell

Hi there, I’m James. I’m part owner and trainer with Dundee First Aid Training. Along with Chris, we decided to enter in to the business world after years of teaching/assessing first aid.

I have been doing first aid since 2005 and ventured into the training side of things after qualifying as a Lifeguard trainer/assessor in 2013. In 2015 I then moved into delivering first aid courses through Leisure and Culture Dundee where I was employed from 2009 until I left for a new venture in 2019.

I currently work full-time as a Firefighter with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service where I’ve picked up some more trauma based training.

In March 2022, Chris and I set this up to deliver our own first aid courses and will look to progress our training as we find our feet.

On a personal note, I’m a keen footballer and still play (just), I have two kids, Ben 15 and Ruby who is two. I’m married to Carly and we have a Scottish Terrier named Harry.

Remember, it’s better to have the knowledge and not need it! So book up!
